It’s all a blur.

Now I know how the nuns in The Sound of Music felt trying to ‘catch a cloud and pin it down.’

It’s been a little over a month since Lil Man has been able to walk.  And he’s now discovered that he can run.  Everywhere.  Around the house, in the park – even in the bathtub.  Yes, the bathtub.  He does laps around the tub the entire time he’s in there.  It’s been months since I’ve tried to keep him still during bath time.  I quickly learned that fighting him is more dangerous than keeping him steady.  Plus, all the rotating side to side while trying to soap him up and rinse him off has to be good for my obliques, right?

But back to the issue at hand.  He doesn’t sit still.  My photos are all a blur with a smile on them.  And this past weekend, he figured out how to walk backwards, which brings many more bumps and bruises.  He has yet to realize that just because he can’t see the wall behind him doesn’t mean it’s not there.

If it were just crazy during play time, I’d be okay with it.  But getting anything done is just nuts.  Trying to put his coat on in the mornings, when I haven’t even sniffed caffeine is more difficult than completing an IronMan competition.  And forget trying to wipe his nose.  Short of employing some Florida-Gator-style tackling, it’s not getting done.  And the more I tackle, the better his defense gets.

But it’s okay.  It’s all part of having a little boy.  And I love it.
